Sorbonne Université (Sorbonne University, SU) is a multidisciplinary, research-intensive and world-class academic institution, which received the French government excellence initiative grant (IdEX) in 2018. Continuing the humanist tradition of the Sorbonne, it is devoted to meeting the scientific challenges of the 21st century and spreading the knowledge created in its laboratories by its research teams to its students and to society as a whole. SU is made of three faculties: arts and humanities, science and engineering, and medicine. Its faculty of arts and humanities is today the largest faculty in France in the field of arts, languages, literature, social sciences and humanities. SU supports the development of an intercultural context for its students through an internationalisation of its academic programs. SU brings the strengths of its renowned scientific research centres, focusing on ecology, climate change, ocean sciences, and more. As a core member of “EIT Climate-KIC”, the EU’s largest public-private partnership on climate innovation, SU drives cutting-edge collaboration. Additionally, SU and UTC are both members of the “Initiative of Excellence (IDEX)”, which promotes interdisciplinary excellence. SU has also established the “Institute for the Environmental Transition (SU-ITE)”, a multidisciplinary hub for research and innovation. It is also a core member of “EIT Climate-KIC”, the EU’s largest public-private partnership addressing climate change through innovation.

Université Sorbonne Nouvelle — Paris 3 (Sorbonne Nouvelle University, USN) is a university dating back to the middle of the 12th-century. In the 1880s, the new Sorbonne renovation project transformed the campus dedicated to the Humanities and the Sciences that we know today. The university is internationally renowned for its specialisation in the Arts, Languages, Letters, Social Sciences and contemporary humanities. Through its international exposure, Sorbonne Nouvelle University implements a policy of welcoming and integrating international students, accounting about 30 % of its overall population. USN contributes the exceptional expertise of its “Institute of Advanced Studies on Latin America” (IHEAL), a globally recognised centre established in 1954, renowned for its decades-long tradition of academic excellence in the social sciences and humanities

These leading higher education institutions collaborate as a hub, providing foundational knowledge with a particular focus on macroeconomics; microeconomics, institutions and organisations; critical studies on economic development; and Stock-Flow-Consistent (SFC) modelling. The University Sorbonne Nouvelle hosts the Institute for Advanced Studies on Latin America (IHEAL), offering specialised expertise in multidisciplinary studies on Latin America. They jointly offer the “Option SFC” for the Semester 1 (Tracks 1, 2 and 3).

The Università degli studi di Siena (University of Siena, UNISI) (Italy) was founded in 1240. It has produced advanced knowledge in every field of study and is today one of the most innovative Italian and European universities, with remarkable results in research, teaching, and services to the students. In addition to the historic faculties of Medicine and Law, new faculties were added: Pharmacy (1933), Mathematical, Physical, and Natural Sciences (1962), Economics (1966), Humanities in Arezzo (established in 1969 as a Teacher Training College), Humanities (1970), Engineering (1992), and Political Sciences (1997). Today, we are one of the leading European institutions, fully committed to the future with our dedication to research and innovation. In GLOBAL COOP, UNISI provides foundational knowledge with a particular emphasis on microeconomics and social interactions, alternative macroeconomic models of economic growth and development in the Global South. It also brings expertise on both conventional and critical economic models, the economics of Global South development, and the integrated assessment models. It offers the “Option IAM” for the Semester 1 (Tracks 1, 2 and 3).

Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is one of India’s leading universities. It is recognised as a major institution for academic cooperation in the Global South, notably through its participation in the Global Labour University and several other international alliances. The Centre for Informal Sector and Labour Studies (CISLS) at the School of Social Sciences is a global reference in interdisciplinary research on the informal economy, with a particular focus on India. JNU brings to GLOBAL COOP this highly specific and distinctive specialisation. It also links labour economics and informality to ecological stakes. As the informal labour represents around 90% of total jobs in many regions of the Global South, this unique contribution is essential for addressing the issue of a “just socioecological transition”, in alignment with the objectives of Track 3. As an associate partner, JNU hosts the students during Semester 3 but does not award it degree.
