Mobility
The choice of a Track and Option determines student’s mobility (for Semesters 1, 2 and 3). The potential mobility during Semester 4 is decided at the beginning of Year 2, in relation to the Master’s thesis project. The Tracks and Options are:
- Track 1 — Reassessing international trade
- Track 2 — Reframing the international monetary and financial system
- Track 3 — Collaborating for a just socioecological transition
Options (for Semester 1)
- SFC — Stock-flow consistent modelling (in Paris)
- IAM — Integrated assessment modelling (in Siena)
The Option determines the institution in which the student spends the 1st semester (S1).
The track determines the institution in which the student spends the 2nd and 3rd semesters (S2-S3).
During Semester 4, students write their Master’s thesis (and can choose between completing a professional internship or working in a research lab). They can choose to spend this time in one of the institutions visited previously in their pathway or to go at one of the partners or associated partner. The programme ends with the GLOBAL COOP “Master’s conference” (end-June / beginning of July).
The table below summarises the mobility rules:
| Track | Option | Semester 1 (S1) | Semester 2 (S2) | Semester 3 (S3) | Semester 4 (S4) |
| Track 1 — Reassessing international trade | SFC | UTC / SU / USN (Paris, France) | UNSAM Buenos Aires (Argentina) | UNICAMP Campinas (Brazil) | Master’s thesis At one of the partners’ or associated partners’ institutions, or any other relevant institution (see “Compulsory physical mobility”) |

Compulsory physical mobility
All enrolled students (whether Erasmus Mundus scholarship holders or not) are required to complete a minimum of two physical mobility study periods, each lasting at least one academic semester (30 ECTS credits or equivalent), in two countries different from their country of residence at the time of enrolment. One of these countries must be an EU Member States or third countries associated to the Programme (i.e. North Macedonia, Serbia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Türkiye). Compulsory mobility periods cannot be replaced by virtual mobility (distance learning).
Concretely, specific constraints may arise for students resident in France, Italy or Brazil at enrolment stage: (i) Students enrolled in ‘option SFC’ who are residents of France at the time of enrolment will be required to spend S4 in an EU Member State or a third country associated with the Programme, excluding France; (ii) Students enrolled in ‘option IAM’ who are residents of Italy at the time of enrolment will be required to stay in an EU Member State or a third country associated with the Programme, excluding Italy, during S4; (iii) Students enrolled in Track 2 who are residents of Brazil at the time of enrolment must spend S4 in a country different from those visited during Semesters 1 to 3.
